George Albert Goffin died in May 1898 in London. He is buried with his sister Rosanna in Wimbledon.
Someone claiming to be George Albert Goffin married Fanny Bilton nee Wilson in Dec 1898 in Hull.
The person who married Fanny Bilton d. Sept 1927 and it is noted on his death certificate that he was also known as “John”.
John Hall Goffin married Emma Botwright in 1886 in Norfolk.
John does not appear on the 1891, 1901 or 1911 censuses, though Emma appears as a married woman living with her daughter, father and brothers.
The assumption is that John and Emma split up and that John married Fanny Bilton pretending to be his recently deceased brother, George, to avoid being caught committing bigamy.
